Mercy Walk: Can't Stop the Walking
Friday, October 13, 2017
The Mercy Walk is a long-standing tradition at Mercy since the 1980s and our major student fundraiser. This year, the Mercy Walk raised $74,430.97, a new record for Mercy! All proceeds from the Walk go to Mercy's tuition assistance program, giving more young women the opportunity to attend Mercy. The 2016 Walk theme was "Can’t Stop the Walking."
The day was jam-packed with our Dare to Care Food Frenzy (which brought in 839 pounds of food), Minute to Win It games, an awards ceremony, a walk through the neighboring community, a pizza party and, of course, tons of school spirit! Leading up to the walk, students participated in the walk kickoff, penny competition and hallway decorating contest.
Each student has their own fundraising web page at www.mercyacademywalk.com. They must raise $65 to participate. If, as a school, we raise $60,000, we earn an extra day off school in October. If we raise $65,000, we will enjoy spirit wear Mondays for the rest of the school year. Students are also eligible for a variety of incentives and prizes, which are detailed on the walk website.
If you have any questions about the walk, please contact Valerie Alexander Downs '99 in the Advancement Office.
