Mercy Academy again earns Cognia accreditation, renews STEM certification

Mercy Academy again earns Cognia accreditation, renews STEM certification

Mercy Academy is proud to announce that we have once again earned accreditation from the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission. A globally-acknowledged standard of excellence, Cognia implements rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria in its accreditation process. Through this process, Cognia analyzes the whole institution -- from policies to learning conditions and cultural context -- to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of every learner.

As part of this process, Mercy Academy underwent both internal and external reviews to ensure the school meets Cognia's rigorous performance standards.

"This prestigious accreditation reflects our unwavering dedication to providing the highest quality education for our students," said Mercy Academy principal Dr. Cynthia Smith-Ough. "This accreditation is not just a mark of our past achievements, but also a promise to continue our efforts in creating a productive, equitable, and engaging learning environment for all students. Cognia's global perspective in education reinforces our commitment to excellence, and we are proud to uphold these high standards each and every day."

In addition to this accreditation, Mercy Academy has also successfully completed its STEM certification renewal from Cognia. Mercy Academy was the first all-girls school in the country to earn a STEM certification from Cognia in 2016.

"This renewal is a testament to our dedication to high-quality STEM education, and it reinforces our place as a leader in this field," Dr. Smith-Ough said. "We are proud to continue to build on the legacy of being the first all-girls school in the country to earn a STEM certification from this organization, ensuring our students are well-prepared for the future."
