Mercy Academy hosts March Madness competition for sixth-and seventh-graders

Mercy Academy hosts March Madness competition for sixth-and seventh-graders

March Madness is here, and Mercy Academy recently got in on the action with a bracket-style competition of its own. On March 17, area sixth- and seventh-grade students brought their A-game as they took part in a lively competition that introduced them to the strong spirit of community only found at Mercy.

During Mercy March Madness, students took part in a high-energy athletic showcase designed to let them train like a Mercy athlete. Throughout the evening, participants rotated through multiple sports, building skills and competing for the championship title.

Participants warmed up with “Get to Know You” activities before being drafted into teams. From there, they practiced skills in sport-specific stations, featuring soccer, flag football, volleyball, track and basketball. The night culminated in a relay-style bracket challenge, where teams competed together for the win. Mercy coaches and student-athletes were on-hand throughout the event to offer instruction and encouragement.

The winners walked away with a grand prize, while all participants received a complimentary t-shirt and custom bag tags to commemorate the evening.

More than a preview of Mercy athletics, Mercy March Madness highlighted the school’s culture of sisterhood, collaboration and support that defines the Mercy experience.
