Mercy students compete in House Olympics

Mercy students compete in House Olympics

On Sept. 16, Mercy Academy students proudly represented their Houses during the annual House Olympics, the first major school-wide competition of the year. From freshmen to seniors, students earned points for their House while showing off their unique talents.

The day was filled with challenges that highlighted the academic, athletic and creative strengths of Mercy students. From a Mercy-themed escape room and academic triathlon to trivia contests, human foosball and a life-size version of Hungry Hungry Hippos, there was something for everyone to enjoy and a chance for every student to contribute and shine.

“What makes the day truly special is the spirit of community and friendly rivalry,” said Angie Laemmle, Director of Student Life at Mercy Academy. “Mercy Academy Students cheer one another on, strategize together, and show off their talents while proudly representing their House colors. With this being the first major points event of the year, the energy is high—and all eyes are on the leaderboard!”

The House system is a key aspect of Mercy Academy's traditions. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, students gather for House time: dedicated blocks for education, competition, student business or wellness. House time helps students build relationships, school spirit and community, while maintaining Mercy’s long history of traditions. Each house consists of randomly placed freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, faculty and staff members and is named after a strong force in our foundress, Catherine McAuley’s, life.
