Mercy Walk raises over $119K for tuition assistance

Mercy Walk raises over $119K for tuition assistance

Through the dedicated work of students, staff and community sponsors, Mercy Academy proudly raised a record-breaking $119,217.99 for our school tuition assistance fund through the annual Mercy Walk. A tradition that goes back to the 1980s, the Mercy Walk serves as our major student fundraiser, empowering students to engage their communities for a great cause. Through the continued dedication of our students, this was the sixth consecutive Mercy ealk event to raise over $100,000.

The Walk took place October 4 at our campus and included a variety of activities for students. A total of 25 generous community businesses and organizations sponsored the event.

Proceeds from the walk benefit tuition assistance, allowing more young women to attend Mercy. Through the walk, each student sets up a fundraising page to help the school raise money for these efforts. Each year, Mercy awards over $1 million in tuition assistance to make the uniquely excellent educational experience provided at our school more accessible. To learn more, click here.

To make the Mercy Walk fundraising process more engaging, students were given various challenges and incentives to boost participation. These rewards were available at the school-wide level, along with individual and class-based awards, adding an element of fun and friendly competition.

"We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and creativity in fundraising, and we deeply appreciate the generosity of our community sponsors," said Special Events Coordinator Valerie Downs. "Raising over $119,000 is no small feat, and this success reflects the dedication of everyone involved. These funds will have a lasting impact, allowing more young women to experience a Mercy education."
