Prospective Mercy students take High School Placement Test

Prospective Mercy students take High School Placement Test

On the morning of Saturday, Dec. 13, prospective Mercy Academy students took the High School Placement Test (HSPT), marking the first step in their journey to becoming a member of the Class of 2030. This national standardized test helps Mercy Academy understand each student’s academic strengths so they can be placed in the right classes for a successful freshman year.

Though the test is mandatory for determining each student’s initial academic path, placement decisions are flexible, and teacher and parent recommendations are also considered. Students can adjust levels over time to ensure they are appropriately challenged and supported.

Taking the test also signals families’ interest in staying connected with Mercy. From here, Mercy Academy will continue sharing next steps and enrollment information leading up to the first day of school in August, 2026. Students who participated are included in our initial count for the Class of 2030 and will have opportunities to bond with future classmates through special events throughout the year like Class of 2030 Trivia Night, Summer Social, and Freshman Success Camp.

Taking the HSPT is a key first step in preparing for the next four years of growth, learning, and community at Mercy Academy. Prospective students who could not take the test on December 13 can take a make-up test, which will be offered on Saturday, January 10. To register, click here. Any student who wishes to join the Class of 2030 after January 10 can reach out directly to our Admissions Team by emailing admissions@mercyjaguars.com to have an individual testing session set up to get the admissions process started.
