BOLD Alumnae Spotlight: Dr. Susie Williams

As the first all-female STEM-certified school in the nation, Mercy Academy has a deep legacy of providing the tools needed for students interested in STEM to excel. A shining example of this legacy is Dr. Susie Williams, a Class of 2000 graduate of Mercy Academy and physician at Baptist Health.

Dr. Williams pursued a premedical degree at the University of Dayton, graduating in 2004 before entering the UofL School of Medicine. She discovered her passion for pathology during her surgery rotation and completed a four-year residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at UofL Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. Following residency, she completed a Cytopathology fellowship at Indiana University Health.

In 2013, Dr. Williams became an associate pathologist at Louisville Pathology Associates and now serves as a pathology specialist at Baptist Health Louisville.

Now, Dr. Williams is giving back to the future of STEM education by serving on the BOLD Campaign Leadership Committee, helping guide efforts to build a 12,000-square-foot STEAM Innovation Center at Mercy Academy. The center will feature cutting-edge labs, classrooms, and collaborative spaces, enhancing the school's project-based curriculum.

"I believe in Mercy, and I believe in the outstanding opportunities this campaign will offer all Mercy students," Dr. Williams said. "I look forward to seeing all the future physicians, scientists, and engineers the innovation center will inspire."

We are grateful for Dr. Williams' dedication to Mercy Academy and her contributions to expanding STEM opportunities for future generations.
