My Favorite Mercy Memory
One of my favorite memories at Mercy was the 2017 Walk Kickoff. As a Senior on the Walk Committee, I had the opportunity to perform a dance routine in front of the entire school. All of my friends decided to work on a routine together and we had such a fun time. The Walk Kickoff is where the fundraising Walk theme is announced, details about the events surrounding the walk are released, and Seniors perform dances as entertainment.
Leading up to the Walk Kickoff, my friends had to put together a two-minute dance routine. We used a multitude of songs and choreographed the entire thing ourselves. We even lifted one of my friends over our heads! We spent several mornings before the Walk Kickoff practicing and perfecting our routine.
On the day of the Walk Kickoff, we got dressed in our group outfits (jerseys, because our group was the All Stars) and prepared to perform. We were nervous but got super excited when our name was called. We performed flawlessly in front of the entire school and had so much fun. Three of our teachers even joined in with us dressed as referees! All of the practice was worth it for two minutes in the spotlight and a lifetime of memories.
Looking back on the experience, I realize that if I had been asked to do this as a freshman, I would have been completely terrified and would not have wanted the opportunity. As a senior, I understand how much I have grown, both in confidence and leadership abilities. Today it is so much fun to have experiences like this with my sisters. The 2017 Walk Kickoff was definitely one of the best Mercy moments I have experienced.
